Modern Mechanical Systems, Inc., provided the management, work force and subcontractors to complete several concurrent dormitories: two new construction, four-story structures; two renovation projects; and new underground utilities.  One renovated building also included the campus Health Services, Facility offices and main IT Data Center.  Our scope of work included both mechanical HVAC and plumbing systems.  One of the challenges at all locations was limited storage and lay down areas.  The student population needed access and safety to be maintained around the sites at all times.  The HVAC installations at the campus Health Center, Facility offices and Data center needed to be carefully coordinated with university vacations.  The close coordination between multiple construction management teams and subcontractors was important.  Constant communication via foreman meetings, coordination, design team meetings and owner cooperation contributed to the success of the projects.  Schedules were tight and the procurement and coordination of materials and equipment deliveries was paramount toward the project’s success.
