Design Plus
Design Plus provided programming, design and implementation, engineering, and construction observation services for Davenport’s campus in Holland. This two-story, 34,400 SF facility was conceived, designed, and implemented as a joint venture between Prince Corporation, Davenport University and several Holland businesses in order to meet the growing need for a locally-available business school, as well as continued worker training. Curriculum and teaching facilities were developed, including classrooms, lecture halls, computer labs and study areas, based on educational requirements of the area’s work force. The project was completed in August 1992 with a total construction cost, under budget, of $2,302,660. Design Plus was hired in June of 2000 to provide complete architectural and engineering services for a 10,790 SF addition to the south end of the existing building. The new addition includes a new library on the first floor with study room, work room, A/V, and storage. The existing library was converted to a “Learning Center.” The second floor houses a med lab, three computer labs, and one staff office. The addition was completed in August 2001 with a construction cost, under budget, of $901,590. The project received the Associated Builder & Contractor Award for Institutional Construction over $2 Million in 1993.
