April 29, 2008 - Detroit - The Michigan Chapter of the American Institute of Architects will once again honor JPRA Architects of Farmington Hills as its IDP Firm of the Year. The award will be made on May 2 at the Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth during the Society’s Annual Celebration of Architecture. The IDP Firm of the Year Award recognizes firms that make an extra effort to ensure that their participants acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills that will lead to a successful architectural practice. The Intern Development Program (IDP) started in 1976 as a pilot program developed by the AIA and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards to ensure the continued support of interns by the changing profession of architecture. IDP is a profession-wide, comprehensive training program that is focused on the professional development of architectural interns. Completion of the IDP is required to be licensed in 51 of the 54 jurisdictions of the United States.

JPRA Architects has a well organized structured program to help their interns learn and grow in the company and the profession. They are committed to providing a solid foundation for supporting and encouraging their staff throughout the IDP process and assign Registered Architect mentors to all IDP interns.

The American Institute of Architects Michigan, headquartered in the historic Beaubien House across from the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit, established its awards program to bring to public attention the value and importance of architectural excellence and to recognize those whose notable achievements encourage all to make excellence in architecture the standard.
