Project Description

The Double JJ Ranch and Golf Resort is located approximately 30 miles north of Muskegon, Michigan. This resort offers a variety of accommodations and amenities, including: an RV park, log & family cabins, a horseback riding ranch, an old western towne, snow tubing, a 19-hole award winning golf course and club and a variety of restaurants. The newest addition to the Double JJ Ranch and Golf Resort included the construction of a condo/hotel called the Thoroughbred Suites, a 100,000 square foot entertainment complex including a restaurant, conference center and the adjoining 60,000 sq. ft. Gold Rush indoor water park. Driesenga & Associates, Inc. completed topographic survey, civil engineering design and drawings, and construction staking for the condo/hotel, conference center, water park, and related parking and utilities. Topographic survey data was incorporated into earlier aerial plan information in order to develop an overall site master plan. This base plan document was utilized to arrange the buildings and parking, complete storm water management, drainage, on site sewage disposal system design, and to prepare water system master plan routing and design. Project challenges included working with the client to determine the most effective layout for planned future expansions within the development, while utilizing and minimizing impact to existing site features and drainage pathways. Construction related permits were acquired from the Oceana County Health Department, Oceana County Drain Commission, and coordination with the MDEQ. Construction began in the fall of 2005 and was completed in winter 2006.
