Project Description

This six story loft-style condominium, located within walking distance of downtown Royal Oak, Michigan consists of 154,000 square feet of 8” and 12” hollowcore plank. The cantilevered balconies were produced with solid, broomed panels tapered from 7” to 8”. The balconies cantilevered 6’ off the building and were connected back to the precast hollowcore. Dealing with the elements of winter construction, precast on a structural steel frame proved to be the right choice. “Precast proved to be the most economical design solution for this loft condominium. The project suffered no delays during inclement weather and allowed for the design feature of cantilevered balcony’s without unusual premiums,” Bill Korte – Frank Rewold and Son Inc.
