Project Description

The MVP Fieldhouse is a multi-sport training and practice facility featuring numerous volleyball and basketball courts, a weight training area, and mezzanine area with concessions.  During the architectural drawing phase, it became apparent that the tall ceilings and multiple uses would pose complex acoustical challenges.

At Acoustics By Design, our professional engineers predicted the amount, type, and placement of acoustical treatment for the facility, even before its construction.  We did this by modeling the building in 3D software and by using a ray-tracing computer program to analyze the aural response of the spaces.  Our findings enabled us to recommend acoustical construction features that were both durable and cost effective.  A perforated metal deck was used in the ceiling to reduce excess reverberation time, and an acoustical screen-wall was added to the upper walls for sound dampening.  Our precision measurements and experience enabled us to offer the precise amount of acoustical solutions to give the MVP Fieldhouse a great-sounding sports environment.
