A private homeowner on Lake Michigan elected to build an upscale home on the bluff overlooking the lake, just south of Holland, Michigan.  As the pictures show, it was a very steep slope down to the beach below.  To ease access, as well as protect the fragile dunes, the homeowner chose to build a wooden step and deck system.  Loose sands and steep conditions required planning to build a structure that would withstand the test of time, look nice, protect the dune and not be cost prohibitive.  Kent Companies installed helical piers and tiebacks to meet these objectives.
