Description
The Devonian Gardens once housed over 20,000 plants and was 2.5 acres of indoor green space in the middle of downtown Calgary. It was used by the citizens of the city for everything from a lunch in the park atmosphere in the middle of winter, to wedding ceremonies.
The Gardens have since been closed and the interior stripped out. This contract involved removing and replacing all of the sloped and vertical glazing around the Devonian Gardens, at the bottom of Home Oil Tower. The glazing sub-contract made up more than 75% of the entire contract with the owner. An area of the Devonian Gardens was housing a coy pond, while construction was ongoing overhead.
During the course of the glass replacement, the City will be issuing contracts to complete the fit-out of the Devonian Gardens so that the people of Calgary can once again enjoy a year-round indoor green space in the middle of downtown Calgary.
