Description
EllisDon Toronto is the Construction Manager for the expansion of the parking facilities at Yorkdale Mall.
The project includes the construction of a parking structure, which includes two parking levels below grade for 732 parking spaces, one storey structural steel frame above grade.
The approximately 160,000 additional square feet on the ground level includes 50 new retail stores.
The exterior materials include concrete, steel and EIFS, while the architectural features include clerestory windows, high ceilings for mall corridors. The features include photovoltaic panels and a green roof.
The challenges of this project include re-routing of the site services, maintaining site services in operation during construction, and working under Downsivew Airport flight envelope.
The methodology to overcoming these challenges includes close coordination with all participants and anticipating problems before they arise.
