55,000-square-foot hotel features precast concrete walls with continuous insulation, for thermal efficiency.
Precast contributions:
• Insulated precast building envelope reduces heating and cooling needs
• Insulation contained up to 50% of pre-consumer content
• Precast was manufactured within 100 miles of site
• Concrete mix design utilized 20% fly ash
• Precast had near zero construction site waste
• Cement contained 4-7% pre-consumer content
• 90% of precast materials were within 500 miles
• Plant manufactured precast helped to reduce harvested materials, site noise and dust
General sustainablity of structure:
• 39% less energy use than a comparable building
• 46% of material was sourced regionally
• 34% less water use than a comparable building - low flow faucets, toilets, and use of geothermal energy
• 87% of construction waste was diverted from the landfill
• Regenerative drive elevators generate electricity as they descend
• Use of natural lighting
• Low VOC paint, adhesives, carpet to reduce indoor air pollution
• Use of solar panels on roof to heat 60% of hotel's water
• Use of ground-source heat-pump refrigeration system
• Furniture made within 18 miles of site
• Bar was made from salvage, native walnut trees that were damaged in a storm
• A large stream on the project site was restored, creating a self-sustaining system that rebuilds wildlife habitat, aids in flood prevention, and helps with erosion and sediment control
