Lakeland Hospital located in St Joseph, Michigan sought to expand the canopy at the hospital’s emergency entrance.  Because the soils were deemed too weak to support the load on conventional footings, new construction helical piers were selected to give the necessary deep support.  Holes were dug and Kent Companies' crews installed helical piers.  Following that, Kent's Facilities Services crews poured column footings and later the concrete bumpers around the columns.  This collaborative approach provided the hospital with a fast and easy construction process that caused minimal disturbance to its operations.
