University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, recognized as one of the top 10 hospitals in the nation, has developed an expansion program that includes a 330,000 sf new hospital complex in Monroeville, PA. inFORM studio was included as part of the design team as the sustainability and LEED consultants. The UPMC East complex will set a new precedent in energy savings for UPMC and become the first hospital with a LEED rating under the new and more stringent LEED NC v.2.2. The overall project is transforming sustainable thinking for the city of Monroeville with a storm water management plan that will restore an ecologically rich natural stream that has contributed to serious flooding and water quality issues downstream.
