Description
The Panasonic Theatre is a new 700-seat theatre, situated within the walls of a three-story historic building. The front portion of the building houses the lobby and public amenities on the first floor, leading to dressing and office facilities on the upper floors. ClearChannel Entertainment requested that the theatre be customized in order to accommodate a new presentation of The Blue Man Group. To accomplish these modifications M+J developed a concept to expand the entire facility within the footprint of the building. The audience chamber is a single story auditorium attached to the rear of the front section of the structure. The sloping floor is an on-grade slab with a small 20-foot deep stage at the back portion of the building. A public right-of-way at the rear of the building is accessed by two egress pathways, leading patrons under the stage and out exit doorways on either side of the venue. The stage is set up primarily as a black box with a soft proscenium formed by a freestanding box truss at each side and overhead.
