- Date Completed:
This project involved the renovation of a dilapidated building on the campus of the Michigan School for the Blind. The building had been vacant since the early 1980’s and was in need of significant repairs and upgrades. The facility has been re-imagined and renovated to become Mid-Michigan’s premier space for home-owner assistance and education. The various funding vehicles included Land Grant Financing, Neighborhood Stabilization Programs, HUD financing, State Tax Credits, and Federal Tax Credits as well as additional City of Lansing financing programs.
The building was completely renovated, inside and out, with all new HVAC and electrical systems installed. Up-to-date communications and security systems were installed for this building which will house a number of non-profit organizations. The current tenants include Head Start, the Ingham County Land Bank, the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, and the Spring Garden Project.
The building renovation was designed with energy conservation in mind and will be pursuing LEED Silver Certification.
