Description
THE KING CO., INC. was contracted by Christman/Elzinga Volkers for the design and construction of a waterfront boardwalk and steel sheet pile retaining wall. The steel sheet pile retaining wall was designed and installed along the existing lake to support a boardwalk and pavillon area. Approximately 160 linear feet of sheet piling was installed. The project was a challenge as the subgrade consisted of organics and marl - therefore the sheet piling lengths required termination into a competent soil layer and a bracing system was designed to support the surcharge and lateral loads.
